My new blog

I have started a new, personal blog. Check it out if you have some time.

Station 7 rewatch

Even if only one person stumbles across this blog post, it would have served it's purpose. Station 7, the podcast I was on most of last season while doing my podcast, is doing a series rewatch. Even though we already started, and are almost done with season on, we would still like new participants. The podcast is recorded as we watch the episode live on Hulu, DVD, or iTunes and serves as an audio commentary for the episode. I will leave a link to the podcast below, please check it out.

A brief discussion about The Swan hatch scene

I believe most of you remember the memorable scene in the episode 'Orientation' when Locke told Jack "it's a leap of faith". Nobody I heard (at least to my recollection) had touched on the subject that I'm about too.

Locke needs to learn his terminology. A 'leap of faith' is something you take when there is no rational evidence to support the action you are about to take, while there is evidence supporting an electromagnetic cataclysm would occur. When Jack was walking by that wall the key to the gun case stood on end, meaning there is strong magnetic activity going on, and it must be strong in order to move through concrete. When Jack watched the film he learned it was an electromagnetic station, so anybody is able to put the two together in order to realize that they should be pushing the button.

While on the other hand Locke should be advocating that they shouldn't be pushing the button, since their is demonstrable evidence supporting the need to push the button. If Locke truly was a "Man of Faith" and Jack a "Man of Science", they both should of had the opposite stand point on the problem than they had.

Brief update

Sorry that it took so long to make an update, and chances are you haven't come here since my previous post, so I'll make this brief.

First thing I want to say is I'll be having a LOST re-watch after the complete series collection blu-rays come out. Also for those of you who also listen to my podcast on talkshoe and are waiting for it to be put on iTunes, it's not happening. Let me explain why.

Sometime in my second month of podcasting I decided to attempt to put it up, but I learned I had to download it. So I downloaded the program, but my bloody computer wouldn't recognize that I had downloaded it, so I gave up. A couple week ago I had to reinstall the operating system so I thought that I might be able to. I was wrong. What happened was it was downloaded into broken text documents. So sorry to say that it won''t be on iTunes in the foreseeable future. But I encourage you to still listen to the podcast on talkshoe.

The Package

Sorry for the late update. Even though Ab Aeterno was easily the better of these two episodes, that one aired two weeks ago and was probably overly discussed through the LOST community so I want to briefly discuss The Package.

The first thing I want to discuss is the scene when they were in Room 23. From the moment we found Jin in the chair I knew we were in Room 23. I probably had an unfair advantage to other fans since I watched the episode "Not In Portland" two days before it aired. Even though it looked slightly different than it did in the season 3 episode, I still saw the megaphone and the viewing screen before he flipped the switch.

After Jin turned of the video Zoey walked in the room with the DHARMA Initiatives map of all the pockets of electromagnetism on the island. Now unless they planned on showing us at least a hint of DHARMA later this season there would be no point in showing us this map. We also learned that she was the subs Physicist. Something tells me she will play a bigger role in the season than guiding the sub to the island.

We finally see Desmond on island. I was actually scared that we wouldn't see anymore Desmond on island this season, never been so glad to be wrong.

The best part of scene of island (besides Sun's strip tease *wink*) was the brief fight scene with Mikhail. It's a shame he had to die though.

There were a few good one liners in this episode. For example when Miles said "Unless Alpert is covered in Bacon grease I don't think Hugo can track anything".
The runner up was the exchange between Ben and Illana, "For the last time, I was gathering mango's and I found knocked out under the tree. Why don't you believe me? Because your speaking".

What I would rate this episode, I'd probably have to give it a B. It would probably a B+ if we saw it before Ab Aeterno.

Part 2

Sorry for the late update. Let's continue, shall we.

I'n my previous post I said I'll explain how the parallel time lines are real, so I will.
Now some of you are thinking you know how, it's one of the first theories proposed on this subject, but that's not what I'm talking about. For those of you who don't know what I just alluded to I'll briefly explain. It's called Schrödinger's cat. Now this is the theory is that you take a cat and put it in a box with a unstable piece of radioactive substance. And until you look inside the box the cat is both dead and alive. This is not what I'm referring to.

What I was referring to is something called the quantum suicide theory. I will briefly summarize this so I can get to my point. You take a fully loaded gun and put it to your head, than pull the trigger. What will happen is the trigger will jam, but then at the same time the universe will split and a world will emerge where you didn't die; and the process will keep repeating. So in short every time you pull the trigger two more universes are formed; one where you die, and one where you don't.

But just to make sure we are perfectly clear, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! This theory is just that, a theory, and should not be tested.

Now what was the purpose of bringing this up? The purpose was to share a possible quantum physics explanation as to how both universes can be real.

I originally planned for this to have three parts, but I think I got the general point across. The next post will be a review of the episode "Ab Aeterno".

Reaction to Keys To LOST Podcast

I just listened to the most recent Keys To LOST podcast, and many things I disagree with. Lets get started with the basics. First their guest made a statement that Flash forwards are impossible. I need to make this clear since it seemed to be clear when it was the present story telling device; the characters themselves are not having these experiences. The creators are showing them in order to show what happens off the island in a way that it in itself will not be a season.

She also said that when Desmond turned the key the island was glitched. The island is not a computer program. They backed this up by saying the flashbacks were shown before the turning of the key and the flash forwards were shown after. First like I said before the island is not a computer program. Second, let's hypothetically say it is a computer program, there is still a hole in her theory. The flashbacks did not end with the turning of the fail safe key.

I will later post part two of this post in which I explain how the parallel time line is real.
